I am one of the many women in the states that spends way to much time on Pinterest and I am not ashamed. It is addictive.
Pinterest just recently hit 11.7 million unique monthly U.S. visitors and was the fastest independent site to hit 10 million. Its most common demographic is 18-34 year old upper income women from the American heartland. Facebook and Tumblr are the only sites with higher social media time on site. Pinterest is beautifully designed and truly engaging, targeting an audience that has been somewhat neglected. It is a game changer and will continue to be one. It is a great way to connect with people who share the same interests and creativity as you do. You only follow who you want to and you gain followers that like what your pinning along the way. The ideas and creativity that are coming from Pinterest just keep getting better. It might just be the only place on the Internet where you can find a workout plan, instructions for how to make a skirt, a recipe for dinner and pictures of your dream vacation all on the same browser page. It only makes sense that Pinterest will start to earn money. They are successful and now the company has the opportunity to capitalize on it.
I have 24 organized boards on Pinterest ranging from do it yourself board to a Michael Jordan board. It is a great easy way to organize and store ideas or images by the press of the "Pin It" button. I can not wait to see how companies and corporations start to utilize the platform of Pinterest, whether it is board making competitions or who can get the most pins repinned. It is a very exciting time and I'll be continuing to pin away.
Most recently I made a board for causes that I admire and respect. I will be using for nonprofits that I write about on this blog.
